Portrait Photography 'Otherness'
This image links to Hall's reading of 'Otherness', representing themselves with a place rather than directly through themselves. Clearly the subject is representing themselves through the sign of the University, reflecting their life.
Task - Portrait Project
Our task was to produce a set of portrait shots with a chosen project partner, aiming to reflect their personality through a set of photographs. Below I have produced a set of images that represent my subject, reflecting their shyness and hatred for their photograph being taken. This idea of the subject wearing sunglasses reflects this idea of her shyness and an idea of feeling uncomfortable having her photograph taken, also reflected through her pulling her hair over her face, trying to distract the attention from herself to her hair.
I personally really think these two images truly reflect this idea of being uncomfortable, especially being uncomfortable when having their picture taken. It can be seen through this idea that within these photographs she is not looking directly into the camera, shielding her face with her sunglasses and hair, shying away from the camera.
